What does this have to do with Jesus Christ's resurrection? Below is an article about one churches version of a resurrection Sunday service.

Local churches hold quirky Easter services
"It wasn't your average Easter service at Bethel Open Bible Church. Many of the hundreds of people who attended the two services on Sunday were dressed rather informally, and they listened to some ear-splitting rock music, full of guitars, drums and loud amplifiers."

What does this have to do with Jesus Christ's resurrection? NOTHING! This kind of sophomore activity in the name of church should cause us all to grieve. These "new" and so called "improved" worldy churches can't seem to even spend one day a year honoring our Lord and Savior and showing some level of thankfulness for what He did for our sins.

As I read more and more about "emerging" "purpose driven" mindsets within "supposed" churches, I see a recurring theme of the Word of God is boring, lifeless and needs the help of a more hip, relevant crowd of forward thinkers. I flucuate between outrage, sadness, and hurt for the way my Lord is being treated these days by some who profess to know Him.

When one describes the Word of God as "dry" and "boring" then I have to ask IF they truly know the God of the Bible, through His Son Jesus Christ. My thoughts are, they do not.

1Co 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

When carnal unregenerate man does not have the Holy Spirit within them, then it would be quite logical to look to the world and their ways to make things happen, make things more palatable.

Though they "profess" a faith here is what the Word says

Tit 1:16 They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

Are these going to be a part of the many that will hear the tragic words of Jesus?

Matthew 7:22 Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works?

Matthew 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

I choose to take that narrow and rugged road with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, rather than skip along the wide road of eternal damnation.

You will know them by their fruit

I don't know if I can add much more to this article. It speaks volumns as to the worthless rotten fruit being produced by the so called "new more relevant church"

This Easter, pop culture will meet religion to get young adults into the seats.

Lost Opportunity

This story caught my attention. Pastor answers crucial call

I have chosen to rewrite this post because, I understand that the situation was tense.

Jeff who responded had a valid point, maybe the Pastor in question will go back and lead this young man to Christ and that is my hope and prayer.

I do believe though it was an opportunity lost to share Jesus Christ with a man who obvisously was desperate.

God does love us, but it is through His Son that we are able to recieve that love.

1Pe 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

Pray for Israel

On Tuesday, Israel goes to the poles to elect the next Knesset. Members of the Knesset (MKs) are chosen by proportional representation. In other words, voters vote for a party list rather than a specific candidate, and the number of the party's candidates who become MKs depends on how many votes their list receives.

I am personally praying for Likud and Benjamin Netanyahu.

Please keep Israel in your prayers. More now than ever, she needs Christian's standing beside her.

Appeasment

By trying to appease the world we risk the kiss of betrayal.

This devotional by Charles Spurgeon says it well.

( "“The kisses of an enemy are deceitful.” Let me be on my guard when the world puts on a loving face, for it will, if possible, betray me as it did my Master, with a kiss.Whenever a man is about to stab religion, he usually professes very great reverence for it. Let me beware of the sleek-faced hypocrisy which is armour-bearer to heresy and infidelity. Knowing the deceivableness of unrighteousness, let me be wise as a serpent to detect and avoid the designs of the enemy. Follow Up

Following up on the last post....

What are we teaching our young people when we serve them up cute little visions of thrills and excitement? Things that tickle their flesh; calling them to fun and frolic all in the name of Jesus Christ. What do we leave them with? We leave them with an empty powerless sack of ash.

God is plenty able to draw those who have an ear to Himself without all the cutesy, worldly, devoid of substance teaching that these present day "christian" leaders are peddling.

Do they really think that this kind of cotton candy teaching will lead to true repentance? Do they really believe that they can divorce the Gospel of Jesus Christ from our horrible sin nature? Do they think these kids are going to grow up and be able to withstand the storms of life because they got on the "roller coaster called jesus" ?

It is more like the blind leading the blind.

Jesus did NOT die so that we could have big party here on earth and then a bigger party in Heaven. He died to pay the price for our salvation from our utterly depraved sinfulness.

God is a Holy God and make no mistake folks, God is very clear about His Holiness. This kind of tripe being taught in our churches and to our youth is leading to the wide road of eternal destruction.

We need to get back to the doctrinal purity of God's Word and turn our backs on this winking at sin, and acting more like the world than even the world does.

Jesus Christ our Lord the Saviour is NOT a carnival side show.

This is mocking Jesus Christ, God in the flesh!

I find it offensive and it makes angry to the core that these people think feeding our children this tripe is good. These people have no shame.

Offensive is an understatement

How can anyone think or say that this honors our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ? "Christian Wrestlers Body Slam For God"

It is downright offensive to me to see people make such a mockery of Jesus Christ.

It seems that all one has to do in today's present "anything goes" climate of "tolerance" is to stamp the name Christian to it and poof instant credibility.

Jesus Christ died on a cross shedding His own blood to save sinners, NOT to appease the sin nature and tolerate it under the flimsy excuse of trying to be relevant!

Counting the cost

Jesus said in Mark 8:34 -36 And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel's, the same shall save it. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

Afghan Man Faces Death for Allegedly Converting to Christianity

Contrast this man's conviction with the milk toast purpose driven, seeker sensitive version of Christianity we see today in our country. This man may very well be executed for his belief in Jesus Christ and for his refusal to renounce what he knows as truth.

A good question to ask oursleves; is do we know God through Jesus Christ well enough to commit ourselves to Him even unto death? Following Christ is a life changing event that should bring us to the end of ourselves and move us to pick up our cross and follow Him.

Welcome to the "Through Thy Precepts" blog. I chose this name because I love the Word of God and deeply believe His Word should be our compass, our plumb line for life.

We as believers in Jesus Christ our Lord; live in an exciting time in human history, for our redemption draws nigh.

If you do not know His Word intimately; it is easy to be tossed to and fro with every wind of doctrine. I want this blog to be a source of encouragement, and discernment, for those saints trying to navigate the tossing seas of our present day.
